| The
FireReport
Newsletter needs some help... |
| Okay,
here's your chance to
help... Kathy is having
problems finding articles to
include in the FireReport
Newsletter. Most of you know
that FRN is simply a project
that Kathy puts together for
everyone at no charge. There
has to be some authors out
there willing to help keep FRN
alive and well with some short
stories, articles, tips on
training or news items. Please
consider submitting items to
be featured in upcoming
FireReport Newsletters or
Kathy will have to make the
ultimate decision to simply
discontinue FRN, and none of
us want that. Contact Kathy
directly at:

A horse (or engine) of a different color
Now
for all of you who thought
that the only color a piece of
Fire Apparatus came in was
Red, you can enjoy a
special web section put
together by Michael over at
the Internet Engine
& Hose. Michael joined the
Fire Service when the rage in
Fire Apparatus was Yellow
Green otherwise known as Lime
Green. It was a safety thing
for night time visibility.
With the advent of stripping
and reflective tape, Red is
fast returning as it once was,
but for now Michael has a
special Yellow section online
for you... |

A Proposed Program to Support
the Emotional
Wellness of Firefighters
|
| This
research paper explores the effects of traumatic stress and grief on
the physical, mental, and emotional health of firefighters and the need
to provide them with coping skills to deal with professional as well as
personal tragedies. All areas of emergency service and public

The ' Oh No Zone'
article by Wendy Norris
|
|
Wendy's back with another
article. This time she takes a look at something that happens
just a little to often these days.

The
'Oh No Zone'
Just this past week, a father and son were killed when they were
struck by a volunteer EMT, who was responding to an emergency
call in his own private vehicle. The father and son were passing through an intersection
when the EMT passed through a red light into the same
intersection and collided into the motorcycle that the two were
riding. In various reports it has been noted that the EMT did not
slow down and pause to make sure that the intersection was clear
before continuing on through the red light and into the
intersection. The father and son were reportedly wearing helmets.
